Eddie Murray (1,500 @ $12.50)
Eddie is one of only 3 members of the 3,000 hit/500 home-run club and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003. Who would have foreseen that he would accomplish so much back in 1977 when he won Rookie of the Year honors? I, for one, enjoyed watching him play when I was younger and he was one of those guys that you counted on when the game was on the line. Murray was a great first baseman but this IPO will turn out to be nothing but a nice collectible. I've said it before and I'll say it again... if Willie Mays can't hold IPO nobody can.
Rogers Hornsby (2,000 @ $12.50)
Hey Cardinals fans -- we have another of St. Louis's finest in the Classic set being offered this week. But sadly, this one will suffer the same fate as an earlier Cardinal release. Yes, I am referring to the great Lou Brock. Hornsby is another great who will sadly dwindle below the lofty IPO price of $12.50. Hornsby retired with the second-best batting average ever, hitting .358 during his 23 seasons in the bigs. He batted over the elusive .400 mark three times and won seven batting titles. However, you would never know it when you look at his Classics price on Cardtarget.
