Yao Ming (6,000 @ $9.50)

Not much to say about this card. Even with the big price tag and the big PR, there is no question this card of the hottest rookie in the NBA will be above IPO for the foreseeable future. It isn't even that much of a stretch to say he already is the rookie of the year in the NBA, barring injury. Definitely a good short-term and long-term investment.

Antoine Walker (2,000 @ $6.50)

Quality player and pretty tempting with just a 2,000 print run. However $6.50 is too much for this semi-star. This would be a great price and PR for a more developed and established player, which Walker may be in a couple years.

Melvin Ely (3,000 @ $6.50)

This rookie was a 12th pick of the Clippers but he isn't seeing much playing time. No playing time = no media exposure = no demand = no value to his cards. Unless he starts playing and putting up some decent numbers, you won't see this card go for much over IPO, if over IPO at all.

Peja Stojakovic (2,000 @ $6.50)

This IPO is almost exactly like the Antoine Walker. Great player, but still hasn't established himself enough to be worth $6.50 (especially with Stojakovic's 2001 IPO being at $7.00 with about an 1151 PR). This card will stay below IPO for a long time if print run is 1,000 or more.

Shaquille O'Neal (4,000 @ $9.50)

The most dominant player in the game is well-deserving of the $9.50 price tag. 4,000 PR is also pretty small for a superstar like Shaq. I do not however see much of a future for this card. It will probably stay around IPO level on the trading floor after IPO (assuming he sells out, which he probably will).

Steve Nash (3,000 @ $6.50)

I should make a name for this. Pretty much the exact same situation as the Walker and Stojakovic IPOs. The only reason I see as to why eTopps made this one 3,000 PR is because of the Mavericks' hot start. This might be a hot card if the Mavericks can win the NBA championship, however you should be able to pick this card up for around IPO, or lower, on the trading floor after IPO.

Classics: John Elway (3,000 @ $12.50)

What needs to be said about Elway? I, for one, have a huge amount of respect for the man. Anyone who sticks with a team for 16 seasons earns my respect. We need more franchise players. John brought home two Super Bowl championships to Denver - something Bronco fans were waiting a long time for. This has earned him a huge following with Bronco fans and it is well-deserved. I believe Elway is almost a sure sellout. Unfortunately, considering the performance of the Classics set thus far, I don't think this card will perform very well. Marino is hovering around $10-11 and I expect about the same for this card. Even if it doesn't sell out look at the performance of the Jim Kelly card. At such a low print it still is not selling extremely well. Bottom line: get this card on eBay.

Classics: Ray Nitschke (3,000 @ $12.50)

Now the Packer fans get a chance to drag the Classics set down to sub-par levels. How many of these cards can possibly sell? First off, he is another great defensive player but look at the way Bednarik's card is performing. Now that you're done crying, dry your eyes and read this. This card will not sell out and probably will not sell many at all. Yes, Nitschke was great. But he was a defensive player and I need Ray-Bans to block the glare off his head on the card. If we have enough Packer fans in eTopps it will not be a new short print. But if the cheeseheads are still broken-hearted over the Packers' early playoff exit look out for a short print.
