Warren Sapp (3,000 @ $6.50)
Sapp is arguably one of the best defensive tackles in the game today playing on one of the top defenses in the game. Sapp is good but after 7 years in the NFL I haven't seen him do what I think he is capable of and that is dominate. I am not excited about this card at all. With a 3,000 print run and $6.50 price tag I don't see good things. I love defensive players but many people don't and that will kill this card. If you are a defensive guru pick him up off eBay. If not, forget they ever printed this card.
Doug Flutie (1,000 @ $4.00)
Doug has been a good QB for a long time. He finds himself at a crossroads in his career right now, not having a job to call his own. He has only attempted 11 passes all year, being stuck behind a young quarterback in Drew Brees. I hope Flutie finds himself a home. Maybe the Bears can bring him home again. I, for one, like him and will be getting one of these at IPO. At a 1,000 print run it is almost guaranteed to do well.
Drew Bledsoe (2,000 @ $6.50)
Bledsoe has found a new home in Buffalo and thus we have ourselves a fresh-looking card of Bledsoe in something other than a Patriots uniform. I really believe that is going to be the main reason why this card will hold value. The 2,000 print run doesn't hurt either. He has already thrown for more yards this year than he has in any season since 1994. You could say his career has been resurrected since being brought to Buffalo. A winning QB + low print run + new team = aftermarket success! I'm getting this at IPO.
Deuce McAllister (3,000 @ $6.50)
Deuce is a solid RB and with Williams gone he can now get the carries he needs to be a superstar! With almost 1,300 yards so far this year he has shown he can be the premier back in New Orleans. He has been bothered by a nagging ankle injury the last few weeks. Imagine if he had been 100% - could he have ran for 2,000? The 3,000 print run isn't bad but I would have been happier if it was lower. With his 2001 issue performing as well as it is I think this card will do fine. People who want a Deuce will finally be able to afford one. I am getting this one at IPO.
Hines Ward (2,500 @ $6.50)
With 101 catches through week 15 he is putting together a great year. When Maddox is at quarterback he seems to flourish. He just posted his second 1,000-yard year (not bad for a college quarterback). With a low print run, this card should do well but I don't see significant gains right away. I'm going to take my chances and get this off eBay, judging by the performance of some of the other comparable wide receiver cards this year. If you are a Steeler fan or just want some room for growth in your port you better pick this one up too.
Laveranues Coles (3,000 @ $6.50)
Coles has finally had a breakout year with 1,171 yards and 83 catches over 15 games. He has proven that he can play at this level. Pennington was a savior for him, really bringing him from mediocrity to stardom. Two good wide receivers this week with Ward being the best in my opinion. With Coles having a higher print run I'm also getting him off of eBay.
Classics: Deacon Jones (3,000 @ $12.50)
Jones was nothing less than dominant in his 11-year career. 173.5 sacks - I mean that is unbelievable. The failing superstar Classics cards so far really make this card look bad for investors. I see this card at $7 - $8 tops. Get him off eBay. It is a shame since he had a magnificent career.
Classics: Jim Kelly (3,000 @ $12.50)
Kelly was the Bills in the 90's. He led them to 4 straight super bowl appearances (no jokes please). Although he came up empty each time he proved he was a leader. I believe he was one of the best ever. But looking at Bradshaw's card, now at a less than impressive $8 or so, I see about the same for Kelly. It is disappointing to see the market for these turn this way but if you are a fan of the great quarterbacks your collection is not complete without Jim Kelly.
