Marc Bulger (3,000 @ $6.50)

Bulger is currently the only quarterback with a rating over 100, his first couple of games mirrored that of MVP Kurt Warner's (circa 1999) and yet, it is questionable whether or not he should start over Kurt Warner who has looked awful this season. The bottom line is this guy is winning games right now. But don't get too excited. Call it beginner's luck. Call it a rookie adrenaline rush, but I have too often seen young quarterbacks come in light it up and disappear into NFL ambiguity as quickly as they entered (a la Scott Mitchell, Glenn Foley, etc.). I am not saying that Bulger fits this prototype; I am just saying to be "cautiously optimistic". With that said, I would say Bulger would be one of the picks of the week.

Antwaan Randle El (4,000 @ $6.50)

A former quarterback from Indiana, Randle El has quickly adapted to his new position of wide receiver. At times, he has looked very explosive and agile this season. While he may not possess the size or skills to be a top NFL star, Randle El is the kind of guy that will break games open on occasion. Perhaps he gets tips from teammate Hines Ward, who has also made a successful transition from quarterback to wide receiver. As far as an eTopps card goes, Randle El will likely be an eBay pickup.

Kurt Warner (3,000 @ $9.50)

Kurt Warner's fall from NFL stardom has been almost as fast as his rise. After a poor start to the 2k2 football season, Warner injured his throwing hand. Who would have thought that this would be a shot in the arm for St. Louis? As his replacement came in, Warner watched the Rams rejuvenate and play up to everyone's expectations. Mike Martz's decision to bring back Warner when he became healthy was facilitated by the fact that his backup, Marc Bulger got injured at just the right time. However, Warner's return was not a warm and fuzzy one. Looking somewhat dazed and confused, Warner found himself looking more like a seat cushion for N.D. Kalu (who sacked him four times!). This card is very overpriced in my opinion for a player who looks like he could be packing groceries again sometime soon.
Note: It was learned Monday that Warner has a hairline fracture in his throwing hand.

Trent Green

Trent Green (2,000 @ $4.00)

When a card has such a low issue and is so cheap, it generally means one thing…nobody is interested. Apparently eTopps thinks we will order a card just because it will be rare. Well, I am not buying it…literally! I am sure this card will sell out, but I do not need a Trent Green card in my collection. He is an average quarterback who does little to impress me. I think I'll spend the $4 on…anything else.

Peerless Price (4,000 @ $6.50)

Peerless Price's mom named him "Peerless" on the suggestion of his aunt. Mama Price looked it up in the dictionary and thought it was a great name, as it meant "without equal, superior". Well, I guess it could have been worse for Peerless, but at least he's one guy that can live up to his name. After a very good season last year, Price has emerged as one of the league's elite receivers. His agility and ball catching ability combined with a veteran quarterback, up-and-coming stud running back and one of the game's best receivers to complement him in Eric Moulds, has made Price into an NFL monster. This card is the other pick of the week.

William Green (3,000 @ $6.50)

Coming into this season, William Green was pretty much handed the job as the Browns running back. However, poor play cost Green much of his playing time. Like clockwork, Jamel White stepped in and performed admirably. Unfortunately, White eventually dislocated his shoulder and Green had the job once more. This time, Green showed the stuff that made him a star at Boston College. If Jamel White never got hurt, I would probably not be interested in this card. But he did and I will say that Green could be worth a shot. Of course, I would place Green third on the priority list for this week.

Classics: Frank Gifford (3,000 @ $12.50)

Gifford may be better known to today's eToppers as Kathie Lee Gifford's husband. After being canned by ABC's Monday Night Football Gifford has fallen off the map. Maybe he lends a hand in running his wife's sweat shops. A seven time pro-bowler, one as a rookie defensive back and six as a running back, Gifford played for the Giants for twelve years. This one will almost definitely be below IPO. Buy one and a Bednarik and recreate that famous hit where Bednarik knocked Gifford off his rocker (the metaphorical one; not the one he is probably rocking in now), its about the only thing the two are known for now.

Classics: Sammy Baugh (3,000 @ $12.50)

Baugh really brought passing to the game of football. He was known as a "pure passer". If eTopps was looking for a Classic they found one. Baugh played in the days when they wore leather helmets with no face masks!!!! Come on, you have to love that!!! Unfortunately or at least fortunately for you, we will most likely get this card for under IPO as well.
