Keyshawn Johnson (3,000 @ $6.50)
We all know Keyshawn and his cocky attitude. He is starting to prove how good he really is with his 106 receptions last year. This year he is finally finding the end zone and helping his team. As for future growth for this card the 3,000 print run could hurt its performance since his 2001 has a 254 print run and sells around $40. Although a lot of people may want to pick this one up because they can't get their hands on his previous release or just like the $6.50 price tag. I, for one, will pass.
David Boston (2,000 @ $6.50)
Boston is a big receiver out of Ohio State. He bulked up for this year and was having a great season through the first 8 games (32 receptions for 512 yards and 1 TD) before being sidelined by a knee injury in week 9. He is a talented receiver with unlimited potential. 1500 yard and nearly 100 reception years like he had in 2001 could be the norm. With a 2,000 print run this could be a buy-and-hold kind of opportunity. This one could pay off next year!
Josh Reed (5,000 @ $6.50)
Reed is a rookie who is having a quiet year. Not a lot of hype surrounds him which could be a good thing for eTopps investors. In his first 10 games as a Bill he has 28 receptions for 358 yards and 2 TD's. Not bad for a 2nd round selection. However, his 5,000 print run turns me off this
card a little. If he proves to be as good as the Bills think he is, his eTopps card could be a good pick-up. Only time will tell.
Ladell Betts (5,000 @ $6.50)
Betts is another rookie issue this week but he is not really getting the chance that Reed is. He hasn't played much at all this year. He has 11 carries for 44 yards through week 11. He did rush for over 1,000 yards his last two seasons at Iowa, so he does have the potential to put up
yardage. When he gets out of Stephen Davis's shadow he could be promising. The 5,000 print run makes me uneasy for a yet- to-be-proven NFL back. I will be picking this one up on eBay.
Tim Brown (3,000 @ $6.50)
What can you say about Tim Brown? The guy is amazing! He has spent 14 seasons in the NFL and is having yet another great season in 2002. As Rich Gannon's favorite target he has already racked up almost 700 yards! He is a future hall-of-famer. At a 3,000 print run it is a must for Raiders or Tim Brown fans! For me I will pass.
Tommy Maddox (5,000 @ $6.50)
Maddox has been in the league on and off since 1992. Playing, or rather sitting, for the Broncos, Rams and Giants. He was a standout in the XFL and that helped him find a home in Pittsburgh. Barely playing in 2001 behind Kordell Stewart he finally scored the starting job this year.
He has played very well but went down with a scary injury in week 11. All is fine with Maddox according to his doctors who say there is no structural damage to his spine and it is not career threatening. He will most likely lose his starting role for the next few weeks to Kordell. His eTopps card should perform well when he returns to his starting role. You might want to pick one up just in case.
Classics: Dan Marino (3,000 @ $12.50)
I am loving the football classics and Marino will be one of the top cards in the set. Marino is arguably the best quarterback to ever
play the game. He holds 24 different records in the NFL including career passing yards at 61,361 and touchdown passes at 420!!! He was a great QB and will make a great Classic card. At a 3,000 print run I think he will perform very well.
Classics: Jim Brown (3,000 @ $12.50)
Jim Brown was an amazing running back. He is a 9-time pro bowler and 8-time NFL rushing leader! He is by far one of the best
ever. With guys like Walter Payton growing up idolizing him you know he was good. I for one am way too young to have watched him play but those who have will probably never forget Jim Brown. I don't expect huge gains out of this card right away. I do think it will perform steadily and be a great addition to the football Classics set.
