Week 8 of eTopps football IPOs brings some appealing values. Let's take a look at them.
Jeremy Shockey (7,000 @ $6.50)
Although 7,000 is a pretty high print run, this hot rookie card will stay above IPO as long as Shockey continues to perform
consistently. Definitely the best pickup of this week.
Ahman Green (6,000 @ $6.50)
Although having a great year, this card has way too high a print run for a second eTopps card and will most likely trade at or
around IPO on the secondary market. His 2001 eTopps card has a print run of 1,005 and is currently trading at around $36.00.
Donald "Reche" Caldwell (5,000 @ $6.50)
This six-foot, 194-pound receiver out of Gatorland used to line up opposite Jabar Gaffney to form one of college football's most dynamic receiving duos. These days, Caldwell is playing for the Chargers, getting his rookie due (Not much…5 receptions. But hey, two are touchdowns!). Although Caldwell's IPO is a relatively high one at 5,000, he is a rookie and could be a big part of the Charger offense for years to come.
Edgerrin James (4,000 @ $6.50)
Although not having as good a year as Ahman Green, and also being a second eTopps card, this one is a better pick up than the Green because of the 4,000 print run.
Jimmy Smith (4,000 @ $6.50)
Jimmy Smith always seems to have something wrong with him…major organs not functioning or various other injuries. However, this guy always seems to grab 100 catches and a bunch of TD's along the way. He is just plain good. This is Smith's second IPO and we usually shy away from those. However, his first IPO had a very short run of 354 and that could translate into a decent demand for this issue. Be warned however, that although it was a low print run, Smith's first 2K1 IPO is only trading at $26.50.
Rich Gannon (4,000 @ $6.50)
Another second card this week, although this is by far the best one. Gannon is having the best year leading the Raiders offense
who seem to be destined for the Super Bowl. 4,000 is also a pretty low print run for one of the top quaterbacks in the league.
